Introductions

 

소개

As a rule an introduction is required between people who do not know one another. Such introduction is not felt to be necessary when there is a give and take of love between persons, for hearts need no introduction. An affinity can be felt between strangers, a feeling of having known one anotherbefore. This feeling is because of their connections in previous lives.

보통 서로 모르는 사람들 사이에 소개가 필요하다. 그러나 서로 사랑을 주고받는 상황에서는 이런 소개가 필요치 않다고 느낀다. 가슴(heart)과 가슴 사이에는 소개할 필요가 없기 때문이다. 낯선 사람들 사이에서도 언젠가 서로 알았던 것 같은 친밀감을 느낄 때가 있다. 이런 느낌은 전생에 인연이 있었기 때문에 생기는 것이다.

No one requires an introduction to me, for no one is a stranger to me. However, I am a stranger to most, and those coming and remaining in my presence do not do so without introduction. As a matter of fact, they have come with many introductions – for many times in previous lives have they been introduced to me and have gone away and forgotten me and met me again. All these introductions are their introduction to me this time.

그 누구도 내게 소개가 필요한 사람은 없다. 나에게 낯선 사람은 아무도 없기 때문이다. 그러나 대부분의 사람들은 나를 낯설어 한다. 또한 내 곁에 와서 나와 함께 지내는 많은 사람들 중에 소개 없이 온 사람은 없다. 사실, 그들은 여러 번 소개를 받았다. – 수많은 생을 거치며 내게 수없이 소개를 받았다가, 나를 떠나 잊어버리고 다시 만난 것이다. 그래서 이번 만남이 그대들에게는 첫 소개이지만, 내게는 그렇지 않다.
