God is Shy of Strangers

신은 낯선 손님을 수줍어한다

 

God exists. If you are convinced of God’s existence then it rests with you to seek Him, to see Him and to realize Him.

신은 존재한다.  그대가 신의 존재를 확신한다면, 신을 찾는 것은 그대에게 달린 일이다. 그분(Him)을 보고 깨닫는 것도 그대에게 달린 일이다.

Do not search for God outside of you. God can only be found within you, for His only abode is the heart.

그대 밖에서 신을 찾지 마라. 신의 유일한 집은 그대의 가슴(heart)이기에, 그대 안에서만 찾을 수 있다.

But you have filled His abode with millions of strangers and He cannot enter, for He is shy of strangers. Unless you empty His abode of these millions of strangers you have filled it with, you will never find God.

그러나 그대는 신의 거처인 그대의 가슴을 수백만의 낯선 손님들로 채웠다. 신은 낯선 이를 수줍어하기에 그대의 가슴 안에 들어올 수 없다. 이방인으로 가득한 그대의 가슴을 깨끗이 비우지 않는다면, 그대는 결코 신을 찾지 못할 것이다.

These strangers are your age-old desires—your millions of wants. They are strangers to God because want is an ｅxpression of incompleteness and is fundamentally foreign to Him who is All- sufficient and wanting in nothing. Honesty in your dealings with others will clear the strangers out of your heart.

이 낯선 이들은 그대의 아주 오래된 욕망들, 그리고 수백만의 원함(wanting)들이다. 이들이 근본적으로 신에게 낯선 이유는, 신은 무엇도 원하지 않는 완전히 충분한(All-sufficient) 존재인 반면 원함은 불완전의 표현이기 때문이다. 그대가 다른 이들을 정직하게 대한다면, 가슴 속의 이방인들을 몰아내게 될 것이다.

Then you will find Him, see Him and realize Him.

그러면 그대는 그분(Him)을 찾게 되고, 보게 되고, 깨닫게 될 것이다.
